François Mauriac remporte le prix Nobel de littérature 

L’écrivain français est récompensé par le prix Nobel. Fervent catholique, il s’est rendu célèbre avec "le Baiser aux lépreux" et avec ses nombreuses publications d’artiste déchiré entre ses considérations religieuses et ses envies instinctives d’homme . 

Né à Bordeaux, le 11 octobre 1885.
Issu d’une famille bourgeoise, catholique et conservatrice, François Mauriac devait rester sa vie durant profondément attaché à ses racines bordelaises, ainsi qu’il apparaîtra dans la plupart de ses romans.


François Mauriac fut fait Grand-croix de la Légion d’honneur, par le général de Gaulle. Il décéda la même année que celui-ci.
Mort le 1^er septembre 1970.
