 Rock around the clock est le premier 

Véritable film de rock n'roll, ayant pour sujet plus vraiment l'intrigue en elle même mais plutôt les prestations musicales qui ici sont en live (et non en playback comme se sera le cas dans certains passages musicaux d' autres film du genre). Ici c'est évidemment Bill Haley & his Comets qui est l' artiste central du film (avec Rock around the Clock, See your later alligators,Rock a beatin' boogie, A.B.C Boogie, Razzle Dazzle, R.O.C.K., Happy baby, Mambo Rock et Rudy's rock) , agrémenté de trés beaux passages de danse rock n'roll, on peut aussi voir Freddie Bell & the Bell boys (avec Teach you to rock et Giddin' up a ding dong) et the Platters (avec The great pretender et Only you). Au niveau de l'intrigue, elle raconte comment le rock n'roll va conquérir les états unis puis le monde entier grâce à la clairvoyance d'un manager et le talent de Bill Haley (qui n'a vraiment rien d'historique), tout cela avec une intrigue ammoureuse en fond entre le manager et la danseuse qui fait le lien entre musique rock et joie de danser et de s'amuser (en opposition avec l'image du rock associée à la violence et à la délinquence qui a été faite lors de l'utilisation du titre Rock around the clock comme BO du film Graine de violence (Blackboard jungle). On peut y voir pour la première fois au cinéma le Disc Jockey ALAN FREED .
