TOMMY SANDS 

De son vrai nom  TOMMY ADRIAN SANDS 

est ne le 27 aout 1937 à CHICAGO (Illinois).

Il est issu d'une famille très musicale, son papa pianiste et sa maman, chanteuse de BIG BAND .

Très jeune SANDS et sa famille emménagent pour SHREVEPORT (Louisiane).

A l'âge de 7 ans il reçoit sa première guitare pour noël et apprend à y jouer.

1950

A 8 ans il décroche un travail à la station de radio  locale de SHREVEPORT C est en 1951 qu’il s'exile avec sa maman pour HOUSTON et y fait son premier disque.

. À 12 ans, Sands était un artiste vedette de l'émission de radio KWKH Louisiana Hayride, aux côtés des stars country Hank Williams, Faron Young, Webb Pierce et les frères Maddox et Rose. En 1954, il était représenté par le célèbre colonel Tom Parker par l'intermédiaire de sa "société"  JAMBOREE ATTRACTION. Cela a conduit à une série d'apparitions avec Elvis Presley et un contrat avec RCA Records, où le légendaire guitariste A & R Chet Atkins a personnellement supervisé toutes les sessions de Sands. 

.Il va y enregistrer quelques disques ....

En 1957, grande année pour TOMMY : son tube TEENAGE CRUSH de JOE ALLISON (capitol records) se classe 3e au billboard -

il donne un show T.V   THE

SINGING IDOLE -il joue à ELVIS PRESLEY dans un épisode  de KRAFT TELEVISION THEATRE -il reçoit aussi un academy awards -Il passe aussi a la grande émission  THIS IS YOUR LIFE !!  cela le  mene à un accord avec Capitol Records et son premier gros succès 'Teenage Cutie.' Une star du rock 'n' roll presqu à égalité avec Ricky Nelson et Pat Boone, Sands va tourner dans  le pays en jouant  dans des stades remplis de  fans.

BREF le ciné va aussi lui faire les yeux doux ! en 1958 il  tourne ses deux 1er films

SING BOY SING et MARDI GRAS avec PAT BOONE, autres vedette rock (Hollywood) de l'époque !!!

C est en 1960 qu’il marie NANCY SINATRA (FILLE DE L ILLUSTRE) ; puis se dirige  vers une carrière cinématographique : BABES IN TOYLAND 1961 WALT DISNEY ----LOVE IN GOLFISH BOWL 1961------THE LONGEST DAY 1964 (le jour le plus long) etc etc....Sa carriere de chanteur est au plus bas …

Il divorce de NANCY en 1965, par contre c'est à cette epoque que FRANK SINATRA va lui DONNER UN PETIT coup de pouce a sa carrière, mais en vain son temps comme beaucoup est passe.Plus tard il va vivre à HAWAII ou il va faire l'acquisition de sa propre boite de nuit, et diriger une entreprise de vêtement.

Il réapparaitra en 1990 dans un festival en ANGLETERRE.
