THE ASHEVILLE MARATHON

En juillet 1975, Elvis a joué 21 spectacles dans 11 villes différentes. Cette tournée a été considéré comme l'une des meilleures des dernières années d'Elvis. Sa prestation vocale , puissante, son humeur, divertissant et une volonté d'improviser diverses chansons inhabituelles font de cette tournée un événement si particulier, et les trois derniers spectacles à Asheville, en Caroline du Nord, étaient tout simplement sensationnels!

  Elvis a également joué les plus longs spectacles de la tournée et interprété de nombreuses chansons rarement chantées. Il faisait la promotion de son nouvel album «Elvis Today» avec «Shake A Hand», «Fairytale», «T.R.O.U.B.L.E.» et «Pieces Of My Life». Plus que jamais, il interagissait avec son public en chantant des chansons sur demande. Par exemple, «Memphis Tennessee», «An American Trilogy», «Heartbreak Hotel», «Jailhouse Rock», «Something», «Return To Sender» ou «Wooden Heart».

Elvis était d'humeur hilarante. Il a donné plusieurs bagues en or et à un fan au premier rang - Mike Harris d’Asheville - a eu la chance d’avoir la guitare Gibson Ebony Dove ! C'était la fameuse guitare qu'Elvis a  utilisé lors du show  Aloha From Hawaii. Plus tard dans le show, Mike Harris pensa qu'Elvis allait  lui redemander la guitare, mais Elvis se pencha et dit: «Non, c'est à toi. Je t'ai donné ça pour une raison et ça va t'aider un jour.
