Reconnu par les milieux littéraires, Raymond Queneau rejoint les membres de l’Académie Goncourt. Durant des années il participera au jury, pour finalement le quitter en 1970. 

Né à Le Havre (France) le 21/02/1903 ; Mort à Paris (France) le 25/10/1976

Raymond Queneau apparaît comme un romancier et poète fantaisiste qui a su allier mathématiques et littérature pour donner naissance à des œuvres particulièrement drôles et originales. Sa curiosité débordante et sa soif de savoir lui ont permis de multiplier les activités artistiques. Il est aussi l’un des principaux fondateurs du fameux groupe de l’Oulipo.

Il a influence grand nombres de grands artistes de JAZZ etva ete un des chanteurs les plus populaires du music hall ; alliant bien avant SINATRA -ELVIS etc ...chansons -cinema etc etc .Il est pour moi un des premiers rendant le mot populaire bien moins pejoratif .d ailleurs pour moi il ne le sera jamais ..

De son vrai nom ASA YOELSON , avec ses parents , MOSHE REUBEN YOELSON et NAOMI ETTAS CANTOR , famille  issue de LITUANIE , ils doivent s'exiler pour les états unis  , des son plus jeune âge ..

1898 JOLSON devient un chanteur populaire à NEW YORK , durant la guerre contre l ESPAGNE , en effet c'est a ce moment qu’ il va développer sa "marque de fabrique ( maquillage-gestuelle-style musicale-et un contact naturel avec le public) .

En 1911 , direction BROADWAY , réussite totale dans le domaine à l'époque, on le verra dans la pièce LA BELLE PAREE changé de registre et se transformer en STAR pour les besoins de la pièce .

Il commença à enregistrer et devint vite connu sur la scène internationale par son extraordinaire présence scénique et son rapport personnel avec les spectateurs. Aucun autre artiste n'a connu à Broadway autant de popularité et une carrière aussi longue qui a durée près de 30 ans (de 1911 à 1940). Les hurlements ou les supplications des spectateurs, empêchaient souvent le spectacle de continuer, tant était puissante la présence de Al Jolson. Lors d'un spectacle à Boston, le show a dû être arrêté pendant 45 minutes. On disait de lui qu'il avait une personnalité "électrique", liée à son habilité à faire penser à chaque spectateur qu'il chantait uniquement pour elle ou lui.ENCORE LA BIEN AVANT LES LEGENDES CITEES AUPARAVANT ..

 

Cependant, il est plus connu aujourd'hui pour sa présence dans un des premiers films parlants, le chanteur de jazz (1927)|the jazz singer . Dans ce film, Al Jolson interpréta la chanson "Mammy" avec son visage maquillé en noir.

Il signe à la WARNERS pour une serie de films PARLANTS . Dans un d'eux il chante "SONNY BOY" qui devient le premier disque a ce vendre à pres de 3 millions d'exemplaires (cf film THE SINGING FOOL).

Après avoir quitté la scène de Broadway, Al Jolson est devenu une vedette de la radio. ‘’The Al Jolson Show’’ s’est déroulé de 1933 à 1939, de 1942 à 1943 et de 1947 à 1949. Ses émissions étaient toujours parmi les plus écoutées. En 1950, Al Jolson signe avec CBS Télévision, mais meurt en octobre de cette même année avant d’avoir commencé des émissions télévisées.

Parmi les nombreuses chansons très populaires, on peut citer "You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It)", "Rock-A-Bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody", "Swanee" (écrit par le grand george gershwing lui meme), "April Showers", "Toot, Toot, Tootsie, Goodbye", "California, Here I Come", "When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob-Bob-Bobbin' Along", "Sonny Boy", et "Avalon".

Al Jolson a été le premier artiste à vendre plus de 10 million de disques. Alors qu'il n'existait pas encore de hit-parade, Joel Whitburn (son archiviste) a fait un travail statistique sur les N°1 des chansons de la période 1890-1954. Son estimation a été que des chansons de Al Jolson ont été 23 fois N° 1. Whitburn a calculé que Al Jolson aurait été en tête pendant 114 semaines.
